Dow Jones hits new highs

With President Trump finally getting some traction with the Senate on his proposed tax reforms, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was propelled higher to close at a new record high of 24,239, a rise of 20% since his inauguration. Whether he is justified in taking all the credit for this is a matter for history to decide, but there can be no denying that business confidence has been resurrected since the US elected the pro-business political outsider. A correction may be a way off but it is inevitable, and whether Trump will be so keen to tie the performance of the Dow to his own record under those circumstances remains to be seen.
