US Non-Farm Payrolls Dip vs expectation

Today’s key US Non-Farm Payroll  figures came in at +148,000 for December. Expectations were for a slightly better figure than this, with most estimates suggesting that 200,000 jobs would be added.

The US Dollar dipped against most currencies, reflecting the disappointment of the majority who had positioned themselves for better news. It  is unlikely that any permanent damage has been done, the rest of the day will just see squaring-up of positions ahead of the weekend, with no significant drivers of dollar value in sight just at the moment. EURUSD is trading at 1.2057/60, Cable at 1.3560/63, Dow at 25,170 & XAUUSD at $1,320.
